Her article, entitled &#8220;The Psychodynamics of Shame and Guilt in Great Expectations,&#8221; is based on a paper she wrote for Professor Otis&#8217;s Victorian Novel course in the spring of 2010. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sally Wolff King spoke at Chapel Hill, Bucknell, and Macon State about her new book <em>Ledgers of History:  William Faulkner, an Almost Forgotten Friendship, and an Antebellum Plantation Diary (</em>Wolff, LSU Press, 2010<em>)</em>. Other lectures will take place in the spring semester.  The book was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.</p>
<p>She has also had a number of speaking engagements around town, as well as book signings, in and out of town, including at the Emory Barnes and Noble.</p>
<p>Also the Emory bookstore hosted a signing for the new Emory history, which she co-edited with Gary Hauk.  The book is titled <em>Where Courageous Inquiry Leads: The Emerging Life of Emory University (</em>Hauk and King, Bookhouse Group, 2010<em>)</em>.</p>

<p>The book, which is based on evidence found in letters, poems, sermons, essays, and other documents, examines and challenges existing theories about slave marriages and the effect that slave marriages have had on modern African American unions.  The book is Professor Foster&#8217;s second contribution to the <a title="The Center for the Study of Law and Religion" href="http://cslr.law.emory.edu/" target="_blank">Center for the Study of Law and Religion&#8217;s</a> project, <a title="Sex, Marriage, and Family &amp; the Religions of the Book" href="http://cslr.law.emory.edu/research/sex-marriage-and-family-the-religions-of-the-book/" target="_blank">&#8220;Sex, Marriage, and Family &amp; the Religions of the Book,&#8221;</a> the first being <a title="Love and Marriage in Early African America" href="http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Love-and-Marriage-in-Early-African-America/Frances-Smith-Foster/e/9781555536770/?itm=2&amp;USRI=love+and+marriage+in+early+african+america" target="_blank"><em>Love and Marriage in Early African America</em></a> (Northeastern University Press, 2007).</p>
